S2600CP no bios splash.

$

Dear Intel Community,

I've paired an SC2600CP with a Xeon E5-2650. When I boot I get the constant green LED signalling System Status "OK", yet I fail to get a BIOS splash or any video feed.
From the 8 LED codes I gather that I may have a hang at DXE CPU init (yet it moves on from this eventually). I get no beeps apart from an early one that I cannot match on the documentation, and gather to be USB diagnostics passing. When I remove my RAM I can force the 3 beeps, so the speaker's working. I've included a video of the boot sequence.

Hope you can help,
Frederik.

Front panel USB 3.0 cable for P4000G chassis

Hi

I would like to know if this cable is available to buy anywhere. It is used in P4304XXMFEN2 and P4304XXMUXX.

I would appreciate any information provided (manufacturer with part number, spares/accessories info, url, etc.).

Thank you.

S2600CP2 - On losing PSU power, it won't post, except after a CMOS flash, even on a clean shutdown from OS - Feature or known issues and how to change if its a feature?

S2600CP2 - On losing PSU power, it won't post, except after a CMOS flash, even on a clean shutdown from OS - Feature or known issues and how to change if its a feature?

I have two S2600CP2 boards, identical setups with 2670s.

They both post when have cleared CMOS via the jumper and a boot-and-wait.

They have both had CentOS installled and report all fine with CPUs and Memory and I ran "stress -c 256 -m 256" for 5 minutes and ran i7z to monitor temps and they are fine.

Whole board has adequate power and cooling.

Both boards have fresh CR2032 batteries and newest BIOS versions.

Issue is:

- On both boards, because I am still experimenting with a HW setup, they are not cased yet but on an anti-static testbench and everything there works fine and they are only touched with a grounding wire and as before work fine when "freshly CMOS booted" OR they have continous power from the PSU on reboots.

- When I then turn them off in a safe position like on a prompt or not in the middle of something like the BIOS or so, I get a quiet dual green light "failure to post" but with no ambers on.

Interrim, testbench solution,

- I then turn it off again on the PSU button. I wait 5 sec for everything to be safely turned off, before flipping the PSU button on again (every PSU on-off-on)

- Move the CMOS jumper to "clear" (2-3) and boot again to a "quiet failpost" (on purpose because it just clears the CMOS and resets the BIOS), where the green light on the CPU2 side of the board next to the blinking blue light goes out for 10 sec when the blue blink goes away and then comes back on (indicating CMOS cleared) and I turn off the PSU again.

- Then turn it on and it posts and gets into the BIOS or OS just fine and resumes operations. I usually go by the BIOS and check for boot target no 1 is the SSD for the OS though.

Conclusion:

- While there is a solution to this problem (move the jumper and triple boot over the course of about 90-120 seconds) or mount it in a case and never turn off the PSU (which I intend to do when done testing), ...

- ... I would still like to know if there is a way for the BIOS to stop this behavior and just post or for it to reset itself if it posts badly or SOMETHING to avoid busting fingertips on moving that jumper so much and boot those times?

- Is it intended serverroom behavior as it could (in there) be interpretted as a PSU AND an UPS problem, ie catastrophe (hurricane took the roof off, fire or grand theft) so it just shuts down?

- Any software fix or is there a BIOS fix for it or should I just get it case mounted and never turn off the PSU?

- Is there a way to (without buying a whole case) buy a power on/off/reset button to not have to touch the PSU on a testbench?

S2600CP keeps rebooting before post

I have a S2600CP with 2 e5-2670. when I received the motherboard, I booted it to check CPU and RAM and worked fine.

Now, 2 weeks later as I'm assembling the server, the motherboard powers on for a second, then powers off(all fans spin for a second), if left untouched it will sporadically try too boot for a second and shut off(in a loop).

I tried to remove CPUs and RAM and it beeps as expected complaining for the CPU.

I removed the motherboard from the chassis.

With a single CPU it behaves the same way, same with just one or two sticks of RAM.

I tried a different power supply with the same result.

I changed the CMOS battery and reset the BIOS.

If I power up with the BIOS jumper set to "reset to defaut" and then boot, it beeps with 1-5-4-2 that is DC power loss.

All the  PSU I have tested are 850W.

Any idea?

thank you for your time

Which hot-swap backplane is included with P4304XXSHCN?

Putting together a part list and would like to know if the 6 GB/s backplane (iPC FUP4X35HSDK or FUP4X35HSBP) or 12 GB/s backplane (iPC FUP4X35S3HSDK or FUP4X35S3HSBP) is included. Looking to pair this with the RMS25PB040 raid controller and could use help with locating the raid cable as well. The Intel Server Configurator Tool really should be smart enough to select this cable for you depending on your selections. The configuration guide feels incomplete as it doesn't specify which backplane is included other than a generic description ("4 x 3.5” drive hot swap") while the SAS cable guide section does not show options specific to P4304XXSHCN.

S5000PSL No Boot or Fan Spin-up

This is my first true server board that I've worked on. Until now, Ive only been using refurbished desktops with Ubuntu server.

I purchased and Intel S5000PSL from someone on Ebay, said to be a working product. When I received it, I look it over and find no defects, so I attempt to hook it up to my power supply to check that it works before getting the chassis. When I connect everything and turn on the power switch to the board, three lights light up, and all of the fans attempt to spin. The System Status light goes through the normal BMC loading where it flashes amber every now and then, and the System ID light glows for a moment before shutting off. Also, the 5V standby light in the middle of the board turns on. But, when I jump the start button pins for the front panel, nothing happens. Its as though the system doesn't get the signal.

So I started to check components for error lights. none. So I pull out the CPU. The RMM module gives me a 1-5-2-1 Beep sequence so I know it sees the CPU. I pull out all of the RAM and nothing happens. No beeps. no error codes, nothing. I move RAM around all over the place and still nothing. So, I reset CMOS and make sure there is no password. Nothing. I tried to force BIO into lower bank and nothing happens.

What could I possibly be doing wrong? Does it HAVE to be inside the chassis to even start?

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Hi All,

the BMC embedded web server shows same negative temperatures (see attachment). First of all is CPU temperature. All firmwares (BIOS, ME, BMC, FRU/SDR) are updated to newest. It should be said, the motherboard is using in non-Intel chassis.

What can be wrong?  What should I set additionally?

Thanks in advance!

With best regards,

Sergej Lenkov

S2600CW server board not detecting M.2 SSD

$

Hello All,

I am building a WS using the S2600CW and don't intend to use it as a server.

I have a dual E5-2660 v3 setup with 64 Gig RAM and a Quadro M4000.  I plan to use a Samsung SM951 M.2 SSD as the main hard drive and installing Windows 10.

The M.2 SSD does not show up on the BIOS (Mas Storage Controller Configuration - SATA Port 0-5) and Windows installer (over USB) does not detect it either.

I believe I have the latest BIOS:

SE5C610.86B.01.01.0016

03/31/2016

BMC version: 1.43.9685

ME version: 03.01.03.021

Board part number: H12881-261

I know the M.2 port and SATA4 cannot be used at the same time and I have nothing connected to any of the SATA ports except the M.2 SSD.

Can someone please help me with the settings that would enable me to use M.2 SSD?

Also, there is a very long delay (~50 seconds) before each start up of the system where the fans and LEDs are on but I see no activity on the display.  Why is that?

I really appreciate your help in advance.

Hi!

I bought an used Intel 5520SC and it looks like the network eeprom is corrupt because it shows 10AA as Device ID and no driver is working. Is there any chance to correct this? There is of course no warranty left.

S2600CW2SR won't post, gives 1-5-4-4 beep code

As the title suggests, I cannot get this board to POST. I've tried with only one stick of RAM and the board out of the case I purchased for it, but no matter what I do I still get a 1-5-4-4 beep code. I've even changed the power source, but to no avail.

Does this sound like a dead board?

Thanks,

s2600cp BMC Firmware Failure reported, fans at 100%

$

I have SuperMicro system (I think SS-AMZ1BA02) with s2600cp board installed. My fans are running at 100% all the time, and that's very annoying. I've tried a lot of different things to battle that, but doesn't seem to help much. The fact that I bought this server used doesn't help either...

I downloaded latest firmware package from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25956/Intel-Server-Board-S2600CP-Family-Firmware-update-package-for-IDA-OFU-and-WinPE-. Flashed all pieces. While flashing BMC firmware, fans slowed down for a second, then spun up again. When uploading new SDR, they slowed down for a few more seconds, and then spun up. When booting up, fans start slow, but after about 5 seconds spin up at 100%. In the logs, I see this event:

120205/14/2016-16:54:31Management Subsystem Health,BMC FW Health (#0x10)Warning event: BMC FW Health reports the sensor has failed and may not be providing a valid reading.Integrated BMC - LUN#0 (Channel#0)

I'm assuming that it's the reason it is defaulting to fail-safe 100% power mode. But reflashing BMC firmware does not help with that.

I've ran syscfg tool to get debug logs, but I can't open them, because of the password (attaching them anyways). Also attaching log files from sysinfo tool.

Any suggestions as to what I can try next to calm those turbines down?

Hi!

I have the server Supermicro X8SI6-F / X8SIE (-F) / X8SIE-LN4 (F)

Are the 3 disks in raid 5.

Red LED flashes on the baskets, which drives 1 and 2 (0 - green).

The Intel Matrix Storage Console shows that all is well.

Whom to believe?

P.S.: Asked support supermicro, they said to ask you.

SC5400LX - SROMBSAS18E - F/W is in Fault State

$

Hi,

I have a SC5400LX Intel System with a SROMBSAS18E installed (AXXRAK18E Key). The raid card is connected to a 6-Drive Hot-Swap Expander Kit (AXX6DRV3GEXP) and a 4-Drive Hot-Swap Expander Kit (AXX4DRV3GEXP).

After doing firmware and bios upgrades on the system, that included pretty much all components (bios,bmc,fru/sdr,raid,hsc and rmm), i got the following message when the raid card was initializing:

F/W is in Fault State

Adapter at Baseport B8A0h is not responding

No MegaRAID Adapter Installed

To solve this i have tried moving the card to a different PCIe slot and doing performing a special firmware flash with "-AdpM0Flash" command. According to it, the command was completed succesfully. Tried flashing it with the latest firmware version and a older one with the same results.

Any ideia if theres a way to solve this error?

Thanks!

W2600CR Debugging help needed.

Hello friends, over the past few months I've been trying to get this new build to work but nothing seems to work and the lack of debug output doesn't help.

But after purchasing an internal VGA to normal VGA adapter on ebay for $30 (as there was no video out using a PCIe card) I've managed to confirm the BIOS version and that it supports the CPUs. But also that it never gets past the identification screen.

The system LED goes from solid green, to flashing green, to flashing amber, and finally solid amber. Only the LSB is set for the POST debug LEDs which doesn't tell me anything. http://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/sb/g34153004_s2600ip_w2600cr_tps_rev14.pdf The solid amber erros are listed as follows:

  • "CPU CATERR signal asserted" - I have no idea how to check this.
  • "MSID mismatch detected (CATERR also asserts for this case)" - No idea what this is.
  • "CPU 1 is missing." - CPU 1 is installed, tested with both single and dual CPU configurations.
  • "CPU Thermal Trip." - Unlikely, using a pretty big heatsink and good ventilation.
  • "No power good – power fault." - No idea what this means.
  • "DIMM failure when there is only 1 DIMM present and hence no good memory present." - Tested with both single and 4 DIMM modules.
  • "Runtime memory uncorrectable error in non - redundant mode1" - No idea how to check.
  • "DIMM Thermal Trip or equivalent" - Unlikely, good ventilation.
  • "SSB Thermal Trip or equivalent" - Unlikely, good ventilation.
  • "CPU ERR2 signal asserted" - No idea how to check.
  • "BMC/Video memory test failed. (Chassis ID shows blue/solid - on for this condition)" - Chassis LED is not lit.
  • "Both uBoot BMC FW images are bad. (Chassis ID shows blue/solid on for this condition)" - Chassis LED is not lit.
  • "240VA fault" - I have no idea what this is.

My system configuration are as follows:

Board: W2600CR (PBA: G59236-301)

BIOS: SE5C600.86B.02.05.0004

Memory: 4x4Gb Registered ECC PC3-10600

CPU: Dual E5-2660v2

PSU: Corsair AX1200 (No PMBus)

Bootable media: A 16Gb USB3 flashdrive, a 60Gb Samsung Evo SSD and an old 640Gb 2.5" HDD, each with Debian installed.

Hopefully you guys can explain what some of these possible errors mean and how I can debug them further.
